How To Get Answers To your Prayers

Prayer is your communication system with God - it's the fastest system there is.

Prayer is your communication system with God, and it is the fastest system there is. The sun is 93 million miles from the earth, yet it takes only 8 minutes and 20 seconds for the sun's rays to reach this planet. Prayer reaches our heavenly Father instantly. You can use the telephone , send a telegram, write a letter, or go to see someone; but nothing is faster than prayer. The word has never been able to come up with a system like this, and it never will.

Years ago my mother's doctors found a tumor in her brain. When I heard the news, I was out of town so I could not lay my hands on her. that night as fear swept over me, the Lord quickened Psalms 107:20 to my spirit: 'He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.' I sent God's Word long distance to my mother's brain. When she was X-rayed again by her doctors, there was no evidence that any tumor had ever existed! Hallelujah! Our prayers are swifter than any medical technique. Today my mother continues to walk in perfect health.

Only born-again believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord can have a relationship with the Father. Jesus said, "…..I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me" (John 14:6). And prayer is the communication method you must use to develop that relationship. I am going to show you four keys that you can use to supercharge your prayer life with power.

1: Follow God's Directives

Following God's directions for prayer is as important as praying itself. When I have free time, I love to cook. But when I cook something that I have never made before without following a recipe, I can end up with a big mess on my hands. Prayer works in exactly the same way. There is no use spinning in circles and doing your own thing; follow the directions - God's directions - for prayer, and you will get the results you desire.

Pray to the Father in Jesus' name. When you pray to the Father, two thirds of the Trinity pray with you - Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:27 says that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. And Hebrews 7:25 says that Jesus ever lives to intercede for us. We don't pray TO Jesus or TO the Holy Spirit. They pray FOR us according to the Father's will.

John 16:23 says, "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it you." your prayers are established when you pray to the Father because you have extremely powerful intercessors agreeing with you. How can you lose?

Pray without ceasing. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Paul tells us to "pray without ceasing." Does that means that we should all quite our jobs, stay at home, and pray all day? No, it doesn't mean that at all. God gave us the gift of praying in the Spirit so that we could communicate with God at any time. Driving the car, cooking dinner, or working in the yard are all great times to pray. Take advantage of every opportunity you have to pray, so you can begin to flow continuously in God's communication system.

2: Examine Your Heart

Do you sometimes feel as if you have static in your communication system with the Lord? This can be caused by confessed sin. Second Timothy 2:22 tells us to call upon the Lord with a pure heart. If you are believing for something and have not received results, check your heart. Repent if you are harboring a sin; then your state will be a clean, and you can expect an answer to you prayer. I like what David did. According to II Samuel 21:1, Israel experienced a three-year period of drought and famine. Finally David asked, "God, are we doing something wrong?" Any time you ask God if you're doing something wrong, you'll get the swiftest answers you've ever received. David received an answer, acted on it, and the drought ended.

God never says, :Examine other Christians' heart." He says, "Examine your own heart." Be sensitive to God's leading, then you will clear up the static in your communication system and see results in your prayer life.

3: Have Compassion For Others

Did you know that your prayer life will be affected if you lose sight of other people's needs? Proverbs 21:31 says: "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard." I encourage you to spend at least one hour a week praying for someone else. If you show compassion for others' lives, then you will see powerful changes in your own life.

My mother became born again and Spirit-filled many years ago. She wanted to share her happiness with all of our relatives. So she witnessed very strongly to them. But her family rejected her witnessing. She was quite hurt, but she walked in love and continued to show compassion for her family's needs. Now she is seeing her prayers answered. One by one her family is entering the kingdom.

Don't forget about other people's needs. Stay in compassion and love, and God will meet your needs too.

4: Release Your Faith

To see answers to your prayers, you must release your faith in God's ability. The story of the woman with the issue of blood is such a blessing to me: "when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, if I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole" (Mark 5:27,28). This woman knew exactly what she wanted from the Lord - healing. She released her faith and was instantly healed.

Some years ago a man with a spinal malformation attended my crusade in Cleveland, Ohio. " This morning God is going to heal me," he thought. But unfortunately, I did not have a healing line in the morning service, which was the only service this man could attend. I said to the congregation, "Whatever your need is this morning, if you will look to God, He will meet it."

When this man stood up, his spine popped so loudly that several people around him heard it. He was instantly healed. What did this man do to receive from God? The man released his faith, and he got an answer to his prayer.

Both the woman with the issue of blood and the man with the malformed spine acted on their faith. Don't wait for a prayer line to get your answer; act on your faith, and the answer will come.

You may say, "Marilyn, I've failed so many times in my walk with the Lord, I don't know why God would even want to answer my prayers." Or, "Marilyn, I'm so busy that I don't have time to pray every day. I am afraid the Lord will reject me if I start to pray now." Or, "Marilyn, nothing ever goes right for me. Why should I bother to pray?"

I want to encourage you in this. No matter what has happened in your past, no matter what is happening in your present; seek out your heavenly Father in prayer as often as you can. Take my word for it - He loves you and wants to answer your prayers.

Remember, PRAY TO THE FATHER IN THE NAME OF JESUS, and PRAY IN THE SPIRIT " WITHOUT CEASING." EXAMINE YOUR HEART, repent of any sin, and you'll free God's hands to answer your prayers. SHOW COMPASSION to others - the more you to, the more you'll be like your heavenly Father and allow His power to work in your life. And don't forget, RELEASE YOUR FAITH. You are God's precious child, and He wants to give you the desires of your heart. As you act on His promises, you will see them manifested in your life.

Prayer is the communication system we have available to fellowship with our heavenly Father and to activate His promises in our lives. No one can beat this system. It's quick. It's efficient. And it's available to you right now!.
