The Question

I saw Christ crucified;
I wondered why,
I saw Him die;
I wondered...

I asked the sky why Christ was crucified;
The sky would only say:
"It was very dark when he died."

I asked the trees why Christ was crucified;
The trees only replied that they provided,
the wood for the cross.

I asked the sun why Christ was crucified;
But the sun would only reply its purpose,
that it was to provide heat and light.

I asked the birds why Christ was crucified;
But they would only say,
that their singing stopped that day.

Finally, I asked Christ why He was crucified,
His answer was simple,
"I love you".
