A Life Long Journey

Long did I walk
the same beaten path,
I took what was given
and settled for that.
I didn't ask questions
I didn't compare,
the life that I was living
with what could really be there.

I didn't see evil
in the things being done,
I simply saw people
trying to have fun.
My eyes were blind
and my heart was cold,
Yet deep down inside
HE found something to hold.

He opened my eyes
and He warmed my heart,
At that moment I knew
we would never be apart.
I found a new path
with the Lord by my side,
He guides my every step
He's with me every stride.

I know at times
it will be hard to see,
where my path
is leading me.
Times may get hard,
I might even cry,
but I'll turn to the Lord
and together we'll get by.

He'll shine down his love
and warm my heart,
He'll fill me with peace,
and together we'll start.
A life long Journey
that has no end,
A life long journey
with a life long friend.
